Job Summary

Reporting to the Dean of Admissions and in close collaboration with the entire admissions team, the Assistant Director of Admissions will serve as the primary contact for a designated portion of our on-campus undergraduate admissions funnel, working with suspects, inquiries, applicants, and confirmed students to achieve targeted enrollment goals. To support the work, extensive travel, evening, and weekend work is required. Overnight travel and attendance at campus functions out-of-state may be required.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Contact prospective student inquiries and applicants in a short turnaround to answer questions about the application and admissions processes and our academic offerings to support their forward progression toward enrollment.
  • Plan and conduct on and off-campus and online informational sessions and recruitment events to support prospective students in the admissions process.
  • Disseminate information about the College and its programs by building targeted relationships with high school counselors and other influencers.
  • Research competing programs at other colleges and complementary high schools and community colleges to determine the best way to market PC’s departments.
  • Participate in annual Prescott College Preview Days, Accepted Student Days,  and other conversion and yielding events.
  • Meet with visiting students, their families, and independent consultants to provide campus tours and answer questions.
  • Assist with the development of action plans to support admissions goals.
  • Work with other campus departments and entities (e.g.: financial aid, student life, housing) to foster matriculation.
  • Review applications, make admissions decisions both independently and as a member of the Admissions Committee exercising discretion and independent judgment to determine applicants’ qualifications to be successful Prescott College students.
  • Communicate admissions decisions to applicants and maintain ongoing contact to foster matriculation.
  • Manage multiple tasks and successfully meet deadlines.
  • Interact effectively as a member of a team

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Articulated support and enthusiasm for the mission of the College and a liberal arts education.
  • 3 or more years of progressively responsible admissions experience or equivalent experience in sales, marketing, professional outreach, and relationship management experience. Proven ability to meet or exceed performance goals.
  • Knowledge and experience supporting dual enrollment, transfer, professional, and /or graduate students into bachelor’s and/or master’s degree programs.
  • Knowledge of high schools, community colleges, four-year institutions, non-profit community organizations, tribal governments, and for-profit employers in the state of Arizona and surrounding regions (New Mexico, Colorado, Utah, California, Texas).
  • Strong organizational, research, and data collection skills.
  • Knowledge of basic statistics and data-driven decision making.
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Familiarity with contact management, student information systems, and customer relationship management tools (Slate and PowerPoint are a plus)
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in an environment characterized by heavy daily travel, large workloads, deadline pressures, and high standards.
  • A service-oriented approach and an awareness of the needs and concerns of a selective private college are required.
  • Excellent written and oral communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.  The ability to exercise sound judgment and communicate effectively with a diverse population of students, faculty, staff, alumni, and other constituents.
  • Excellent driving record and a current state of Arizona driver license.
